The Nike Metcon 7 AMP is the version that offers exclusive and limited edition colorways of the shoe. AMP has a superior styling and a cooler look but still has all the features and attributes of Metcon 7.
We got our hands (feet?) on a pair of these as quickly as we could.
This Nike Metcon 7 AMP is just as good as the the regular model for CrossFit style workouts.
Let’s take a tour.
The fit is narrow. It feels tight on my foot. This is like every Nike Metcon shoe for the past several years. I do recommend you go 1/2 size up but it’s very hard for me to give general advice on sizing. I’d rather have a slightly larger shoe – then tighten it down with the laces personally.Let’s start from the bottom (outsole) up. The outsole is made from two different kinds of rubber. There’s more traction up front, and stiffer rubber in the heel for a stable weightlifting platform. There’s flex grooves up in the front too – as you can see.Notice how portions of the outsole – which wraps up around the midfoot to provide protection to the upper while doing rope climbs – is translucent. That’s AMP style! The upper is comfortable and seems like it will be very durable. The shoe has regular laces and uses FlyWire. When you tighten the laces, that tightens up the FlyWire, which runs around the inside of the shoe. This makes for a more secure fit. There’s an innovative lace lock tab – just like on the regular M7 – so you can ensure the laces stay put. I like it – it works and it is a lightweight solution. The heel is good and features a TPU (plastic) bump for minimal drag when doing hand stand push ups. This has been a staple item on Metcon shoes for about 1/2 a decade now…Another view of the laces and lace lock tab.Close-up of the heel.Overall, it’s a quality built shoe and it looks good – and it packs the M7 performance features for the gym or the CrossFit box. I recommend this shoe.
Nike Metcon 7 AMP Versus Nike Metcon 7
That’s the regular M7 on the bottom – Nike Metcon 7 AMP on the top. The AMP is fancier, but provides the same benefits.Mild or Wild? You make the choice. No matter which style you go with – just remember these are noisy gym shoes. That firm heel makes a lot of sound on hard surfaces like concrete, sidewalks, wood floors, etc.

Let’s review the new Reebok Nano X1 Training Shoe from Reebok. Reebok is upping their training shoe game with the launch of the Reebok Nano X1 Training shoe. How does this shoe compare to the Reebok Nano X? Can we use this shoe for the CrossFit WOD? That’s what we’ll cover in this review. Here’s some of the styles we are going to look at: Let’s take a look at this new training shoe. Reebok Nano X1 Training Shoe Review – Video from our YouTube Channel Why read when you can watch? Check out this video from our YouTube channel: Nano X1 Sizing The sizing with the Reebok Nano X1 is same as the Nano X – as far as I can tell. I am happy with my normal shoe size of US Men’s 11. It’s long enough and plenty wide in the toebox. The Nano X LOOKS wider – because the outsole has more width to it. But, the internal space for your toes is about the same. This video explains in depth: I’d recommend you order the same [Read more …]

UPDATE: The Nike Metcon 7 is here. You can now buy the Nike Metcon 7 Mat Fraser PE (Personal Edition) or the Nike Metcon 7 X. I’ll leave my hopes and dreams here. Maybe these ideas will go into the Nike Metcon 8. What would you like to see Nike improve or change in the Nike Metcon 7? I’ve got some ideas – and that’s what we’re going to discuss in this article. First of all, let me say that we are probably 10-11 months from the next version of the Nike Metcon shoe, as I write this. I don’t have any knowledge of the Nike Metcon 7 Release Date – or even that there will be a Nike Metcon 7. But, I’m guessing there will be, as there has been an annual product launch every year since 2015 or so. The Nike Metcon shoe gets better and better every release – and in fact, I’ve declared the Nike Metcon 6 to be the best CrossFit shoe for 2020. While we wait for the next round of improvements, check out [Read more …]

Here’s a sharp looking new colorway of the Nike MetconSF – Seaweed/Light British Tan/Green Spark/Black What’s the Nike MetconSF? It’s the first all-terrain Nike Metcon shoe. This shoe repels mud for superior grip and it even has water draining ports to keep your weight down. Do they work? Yep – absolutely they do – we know because we tested them. But there is more to the shoe than just those crazy deep lugs on the boot-like outsole. The Nike MEtconSF is made from materials that won’t absorb water. That means when your feet inevitably do get waterlogged – on your mud run or obstacle course race – you’ll shed the extra water weight as quickly as possible. The upper, insole, and midsole are all made from non-absorbent materials. But, there’s more. See that high elastic leg opening? That’s called a gaiter – and it is there to keep debris out of your shoe – for when you step into the swampy mud. There’s no traditional laces either. That means no soggy, muddy laces. Instead, you get Nike’s innovative speed-lacing system. [Read more …]
