Some people have unlimited space in their home or garage gym – but most do not.
If you are in a tight space, a big long barbell can sometimes be a pain. Let’s look at shortened barbells – these barbells sacrifice some sleeve length so that they take up less room.
Here’s an example – the brand-new Rogue 29mm Stump Bar – it’s a shortened Ohio bar. It’s shorter, lighter, but still fits in a standard width rack or bench.
A shorter bar has many advantages, especially if you have a small space in your house or garage. And even if your barbell is small, an excellent compact barbell can still provide you with the same benefits typical barbells offer. You can also do different lifts with shorter barbells, like powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and more.
Rogue has several options, including a women’s bar:
Rogue 29mm Stump Bar – Overview
Rogue also offers shorter barbells. These barbells are manufactured in the USA and are the shorter versions of the stainless steel Ohio Power Bar. These barbells allow you to train exactly as they would with a full-length bar. They are space-saving and will give you the feel, function, and rackability of a standard power bar without the need for maximum loadable sleeve length.
These bars mostly use Cerakote shaft finish, ceramic-based coating that offers excellent abrasion, wear, and corrosion resistance over time — up to 100x that of traditional black zinc. They are equipped with quality bronze bushings, dual knurl marks, and a friction-welded one-piece sleeve design. They can be conveniently racked on most standard power racks/squat stands, dramatically improving their functional benefits.
Rogue 29mm Stump Bar
The Stump Bar is a space-saver with a total length of 68.3125”, approximately 18” inches shorter than the Ohio Power Bar, and weighs 15 LBS less unloaded. It has a 200,000 PSI tensile strength giving the bar outstanding rigidity and nearly zero whip/flex.
The Rogue 29mm Stump Bar highlights a snap-ring design and quality bronze bushings for a smooth, steady feel. The bar incorporates single powerlifting marks and a center knurl, each displaying a deep, rough pattern that creates a trustworthy grip/stick without being sharp or piercing. The Stump Bar highlights a stainless steel shaft and a proprietary matte black sleeve finish.
Rogue C-70S Bar
Because it can be racked conveniently on most standard power racks/squat stands, the Rogue C-70S Bar has more improved functional benefits over most standard short bars. Though the sleeves of the C-70S Bar are shorter, the 52” spacing between them is the same as a full-length barbell, enabling you to complete movements that can’t be done with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats.
It has no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish. Because its sleeves are short, you’ll experience remarkably less stress on the shaft when you drop it. It has a 190,000 PSI tensile strength steel shaft, and each shaft is treated with the exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process for exceptional fatigue resistance.
Rogue C-70 Bar
The Rogue C-70 Bar is the short version of the Ohio Bar and is designed for competition use in the CrossFit Games. The barbell’s shorter overall length (69″) allows several athletes to be spaced closer together. It has been tested in the CrossFit Games competition and supported 400+ pound deadlifts during the Men’s Finals.
This bar has knurl marks for both Olympic and Powerlifting grips, and the distance between collars is 43″ instead of the standard 52″. The C-70 Bar highlights the same 28.5MM diameter, American 190,000 PSI steel, bronze bushings, and dual knurl marks as the standard-length Ohio Bar and is backed by a three-year warranty against bending.
Rogue C-68S Bar
The Rogue C-68S Bar can be racked easily on most standard power racks/squat stands, greatly enhancing its functional advantages over most women’s short bars. The 51.5” spacing between the sleeves is the same as a full-length women’s barbell, enabling you to complete movements that haven’t commonly been useful with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats.
The 25mm, 190,000 PSI tensile strength steel shaft is designed with the exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) for exceptional fatigue resistance. It has no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish. It is completed with dual knurl marks, quality bronze bushings, and a friction-welded one-piece sleeve design.
