What’s special about the Reebok Nano 9?
For starters, it’s the only shoe that can wear the CrossFit name.
You can see it’s right on the heel.

This is the 9th iteration of the Nano – and that means they have come pretty close to perfecting this design.
It has a relatively low-profile 4mm heel to toe drop.

That means your heel is about 4 mm higher than your toes.

This means it is a very versatile shoe- and you can use it for running, jumping, lifting, climbing, and more.
(In other words, it’s perfect for the CrossFit WOD.)
The upper is made from Reebok’s FlexWeave material – it’s tough but breathable because it is woven into a figure 8 pattern (there’s a breathable mesh underneath.)

CrossFit athletes need to be able to climb ropes – and the Reebok Nano 9 has the toughness and grip you need for that too.
The outsole is flat and grippy – perfect for maximum traction in the gym or on the lifting platform.
There’s a thickly padded tongue to prevent lace bite.

The collar on this shoe rises up high around your heel for a secure locked-in fit.

The Reebok Nano 9 is also an exceptionally wide shoe – especially in the toebox.

This is the best shoe for CrossFit trainees with wide feet, in our opinion.

Nike has released a new colorway of their Nike React Metcon shoe: Light Armory Blue/Thunderstorm/Black. Here it is: What’s the key feature of the Nike React Metcon? It’s right in the name – React foam cushioning. React foam is a Nike invention that gives you energy return with every footstep. Originally created for their running shoe line, it’s got great carryover to a cross trainer like the Nike React Metcon. That’s because the WOD (Workout of the Day) in CrossFit can require LOTS of different things. Like running, sprinting, jumping, skipping rope – and much more. And for those high impact activities, you need a foam cushion system that is more forgiving than what is in the Nike Metcon 5 and other shoes. That’s where the Nike React Metcon shines. So, how is this wonder of impact cushioning done? The drop-in midsoles are made completely of React foam. (The "midsole" is the part of the sole that sits between your foot and the outsole of the shoe.) So, React foam provides better cushion – but not at the expense of [Read more …]

Let’s compare the Nike Metcon 7 to the Nike Metcon 6. Now that the Nike Metcon 7 Mat Fraser has dropped we finally have something to compare against the Nike Metcon 6. At long last we have the Nike Metcon 7. It looks good (just remember this is the Mat Fraser Personal Edition – so it always looks a bit “dramatic”). Has Nike revolutionized the CrossFit shoe that millions know and love? We’ll compare this shoe to its very popular predecessor. This is Nike Metcon 7 vs Nike Metcon 6. And here’s where you can get these shoes: Let’s get right into the comparison. Nike Metcon 7 – Overview Let’s start from the bottom up. The outsole on both shoes is all rubber, has flex grooves, and a very firm heel. There’s deep pre-formed flex grooves in the forefoot of both shoes. The M6 had a diamond-shaped heel, and with the M7 the heel is noticeably wider. This is good – because the main mission of the Nike Metcon shoes is heavy weight lifting. A wide heel makes for a [Read more …]
