Heel view of the Nike Metcon 5 Women's Cross Training Shoe - U Complete Me
The heel view shoes the tough TPU plastic heel counter. This has minimal drag against the wall – which is great for those horrible things known as HSPUs – or Hand Stand Push Ups. What you can’t see is that the heel cup has TPU on the inside too – so it is tough and won’t collapse on you during your heaviest lifts in the gym or on the competition platform.

Side view of the Nike Metcon 5 Women's Cross Training Shoe - U Complete Me
From the side view we can see those fiery red FlyWire accents – but also that this is a flat soled shoe. And that means maximum contact area and traction in the gym. The shoe has a heel to toe drop of 4mm – this means your heels are 4mm higher than your toes. This is what is known as a low drop or low profile shoe – because the small heel to toe drop makes these shoes super versatile – lift, run, jump, climb. You can do it all in the Nike Metcon 5.

Sole view of the Nike Metcon 5 Women's Cross Training Shoe - U Complete Me
Here’s the outsole (also known as the sole.) At first glance there isn’t much to see, but actually this is a case of both form and function. The flex grooves up front ensure you have the forefoot flexibility needed for box jumps, jumping rope, and sprinting. You can also see where this super durable and longlasting outsole wraps up around the sides – to help with rope climbs.

Top view of the Nike Metcon 5 Women's Cross Training Shoe - U Complete Me
From the top – we can see how these shoes get their name – U complete me is printed right on the heel of the drop-in midsole. By the way, that midsole is dual-density foam and it is super stable in the heel, with much more cushion in the forefoot – for jumps, runs, etc. AND – these come with Nike’s Hyperlifts – which let you add an additional 6mm of heel to toe drop on top of the stock 4 mm that the shoe has. (The hyperlifts are removable – and the killer use case for them is pistol squats – because those require so much ankle flexion.)

Other side of the Nike Metcon 5 Women's Cross Training Shoe - U Complete Me
From the side you’ll notice the accent of the fiery red Nike FlyWire integrated with the laces. Not only does the FlyWire help make the shoe have a super secure fit – it looks great too in this accented color.

Here’s an extreme closeup of the heel. See that diamond shape? That means maximum width and stability. The heel (both the rubber outsole and the midsole) are very firm and stable in the Nike Metcon 5 – which is what makes these shoes so wonderful for lifting weights in the gym.
