Now that the Nike Metcon 6 is out – the Metcon 5 is getting hard to find – but Rogue Fitness still has the Metcon 5 for sale. We love the Nike Metcon 5. This is the shoe that does it all. Great for lifting weights, sprinting, box jumps, or climbing rope – and everything else in the CrossFit WOD. The other thing we really love about it – it’s the best looking CrossFit shoe for the year 2020. Nike’s sense of style is unmistakable. They know how to make a good looking shoe. And they capitalize on this by releasing various colorways (color combinations) after a shoe launches. Let’s take a close look at their latest – Pale Ivory/Seaweed/Light British Tan/Black. (Please note, some are calling the brown color “Gum” – it’s not – it’s darker and it is officially Light British Tan.) Nike React Metcon – New Color Combo for Men 2020 – Light Blue

Nike’s React Metcon shoe is the first Metcon shoe to incorporate their proprietary React foam cushioning system. Why? For high-impact comfort AND stability. The Nike React Metcon takes a lot of inspiration from the Nike Metcon 5. You’ll notice the outsole and rope wrap are identical. And this means you get the stability and traction from the training original. Buy you also get Nike’s most comfortable cushioning – React foam. With this, you can tackle any high-impact (box jumps, sprints, jump rope, etc.) and lifting workouts with a light, breathable upper and durable grip to keep you going. Here’s the outsole. See the similarities? Where’s the React foam? It’s on the inside, in the midsole. You’ll notice from the top view that this shoe takes the same basic shape as the Metcon 5. The upper is made from FlyKnit – which is Nike’s knit yarn-like material. Just be aware that it is a double layer FlyKnit -so it is not quite as lightweight as the running shoes that use FlyKnit. Where are the laces? This shoe doesn’t use traditional laces. [Read more …]

New Nike Free x Metcon 2 Colorway for Women – Valerian Blue/Photon Dust/Black/Vivid Purple

Let’s celebrate the launch of a new color combo of the Nike Free x Metcon 2 in Valerian Blue/Photon Dust/Black/Vivid Purple. This is a women’s variation of this great cross trainer. Why do we love the Free x Metcon 2? That’s what we’ll talk about here – while we show you the great looks of this new shoe. The Nike Free x Metcon 2 is good for boot camps and strength training. Why is that? It’s a crossover between the Metcon line and the Free running line from Nike. You get a great midsole and outsole for running. The “Free” line is meant to better replicate the bare foot running experience. And it does that by providing a lightweight, cushioned sole – but not with too much cushion – as your bare foot running isn’t like running on a pillow! Here’s the “outsole” – or more simply – the sole. See those hexagonal (6-sided) foam blocks? Those mean that the sole can flex along it’s width AND length. Just like your foot will do while running. Secondly the “siping” is [Read more …]

Nike Free X Metcon 2 – New Styles for your Favorite Sports Team

The Nike Free X Metcon 2 is a great cross training shoe – that works well for running too. It’s part of Nike’s “Free” line – and that means that it is meant to replicate the barefoot running experience. Let’s take a look at how it does that – while we show you the new styles. Like the Texas Longhorns? Then “Black/Iron Grey/White/Desert Orange” is your style. Here’s the removable insole – you can see the Texas longhorns steer. It looks pretty good – but few people will see that – as it is inside the shoe. Fan of the NFL? Here’s the Pittsburgh Steelers version of the Free x Metcon 2. The yellow and black are a unique look for this shoe. Here’s the “top down” view. We also have the Georgia Bulldogs. Bad news for Ohio State fans – that colorway sold out within days – so these are no longer available. That’s a hint too that these are all limited runs – if you like them – get them now. Fans of Tom Brady and crew will [Read more …]
