Here’s the new Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit running shoe in the True White/White/Pure Platinum/Photo Blue colorway.
What’s the big draw about this shoe?
Nike claims it can reduce the occurrence of injuries:
“In testing, the Nike React Infinity Run reduced injuries by 52% compared to the Nike Air Zoom Structure 22. The Nike React Infinity Run reduced running injuries by 52% compared to the Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 in a study of 226 men and women during a 12 week run training program (injury = missing 3 or more consecutive runs due to running related pain). Our study found that 30.3% of Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 runners experienced an injury but only 14.5% of Nike React Infinity Run runners experienced an injury.”
Where can you get it? Road Runner Sports:
How does it do it? Lots and lots of Nike's excellent React foam cushioning system.
How does it reduce injuries?
Foam – lots and lots of foam – but specifically this is Nike’s React cushioning foam.
This newest version of the shoe also has an improved FlyKnit upper and provides a secure and cushioned feel.
Officially, this version of the shoe is “True White/White/Pure Platinum/Photo Blue” and Style Number CD4371-101.
But let’s talk more about how the Nike React Infinity Run is meant to keep your running, without fear of injury.
Lightweight Fit
These are light-weight running shoes, and Nike says a Men’s size 10 is only about 10 ounces in weight.
That’s a lot lighter than a cross training shoe.
How do they do it?
This shoe uses an all-new version of FlyKnit for the upper.
FlyKnit is Nike’s yarn like synthetic material. It can be “knit” into a seamless one piece upper – and that means minimal weight.
But, it also means maximum comfort because FlyKnit is stretchy and provides a sock like fit too.
FlyKnit is lightweight and comfortable, but this new version is more durable than last year’s version.
It also uses 3 distinct layers to keep your foot secure.
A Stable Feel
This shoe has lots of Nike’s React cushioning foam.
This is reflected in the “stack height” of this shoe.
For example, your heel will be 33mm off the ground – that’s a lot of foam underneath.
But that’s what we want because the React foam is super-cushioned and gives you energy rebound with every stride.
And more cushioning foam means a softer foam.
If we look from the top we can also see a wider shape – and that means a more stable rid too.
A Smooth Ride For Any Running Style
The midsole is shaped to provide support for all 3 phases of a runner’s stride.
That means toe-off, mid-stance and contact are all cushioned.
You can see the side effect of that shape in the side profile of the shoe.
More Benefits
There’s a lot of React foam in this shoe, but there’s also not much getting in the way of the foam either.
One of the drawbacks of Nike’s React foam is that it can’t take abrasion without degrading.
But in this version of the shoe Nike has increased the amount of rubber in the outsole for both traction and durability.
