Nike Metcon 6 AMP Metallic Shoe Review - other side
Nike Metcon 6 AMP – this is the best version of the AMP shoe released in 2020. It’s slick and glossy all over.

This version is more breathable than Metcon 5 and has a lightweight mesh that improves airflow – an exceptional feature of this model.

This version of the AMP shoe eschews the perforated upper of the regular Metcon 6 – but has a pretty slick substitute instead.

Here’s some of the styles that are available now:

Metcon 6 AMP (Black/Metallic Pewter/Ice/Metallic Pewter) This is the newest AMP version of the Nike Metcon 6. It looks slick. It's my favorite so far this year (of the AMP shoes.)
Nike Metcon 6 AMP (Women's) Need a women's shoe? The prior version of the AMP is also available - it's a bit colorful, but underneath it is the excellent Nike Metcon 6.
Nike Metcon 6 AMP (Men's) The men's colorway is a bit more subdued, but still let's you proclaim - I am Not a Robot!
Nike Metcon 6 X Men's Available now the Nike Metcon 6 X or WHAT THE METCON is going to sell out fast!
Nike Metcon 6 Men's Available now is the launch colorway of the Men's Nike Metcon 6. What's new? The upper is super-breathable - and this shoe looks HOT!
Nike Metcon 6 FlyEase (Black/White/Light Solar Flare Heather) Nike brings FlyEase to the Metcon shoe line for the first time ever. This is the colorway you see in most of the photos in this article.

Metcon 6 AMP – Overview

What’s new in the Nike Metcon 6 AMP?

The Metcon 6 has a total redesign upper that boosts airflow and breathability which makes it 18% more breathable than its older sibling.

For this version of the AMP shoe, they’ve used a new material for the upper.

It’s lightweight but tough, and comfortable.

As you can see, this version of the Nike Metcon 6 AMP uses a different material for the upper. It doesn’t have the super perforations of the regular edition, but it’s quite nice regardless.

For a protected feel, the foam cushioning under the heel was adjusted to be sturdier. It is more flexible in the forefoot to cater to high-impact movements. It also has a strong screen print which boosts the mesh without sacrificing breathability.

Nike Metcon 6 AMP Metallic Shoe Review - midsole
The AMP shoes come with the drop-in midsole and removable hyperlifts, just like the regular.

Its low, flat and wide heel forms a steady base for weighted exercises. To provide the traction you need under foot and during rope climbs, a rubber tread on the outsole and sides is used.

The outsole is Nike’s translucent material, and combined with the dark black color underneath it looks really good.

As with the regular Metcon 6, it comes with the removable Hyperlift insert that brings heel height adjustability.

Nike Metcon 6 AMP Metallic Shoe Review - Hyperlift
All the AMP shoes come with the drop-in midsole (which is dual-density) and the hyperlifts. Go from 4mm of drop to 12mm of drop when these are inside the shoe.

Is this shoe tough? Yes – the haptic topcoat handles abrasions from rope, asphalt, and turf. With its dual-density drop-in midsole, users achieve stability through a more progressive transition, and only as needed.

Chrome heel counter. This finish will wear off with use.

The tread pattern creates smooth contact with the ground providing maximum grip and stability.

Even the laces look good on this shoe!

The laces and tips get a special treatment too. I feel like this version of the AMP is worth the $10 price increase.

Nike Metcon 6 Versus Nike Metcon 6 AMP

In comparison the regular Metcon 6 is a dull, flat finish.

Nike Metcon 6 AMP Metallic Shoe Review Versus Metcon 6
What’s the real difference between the Nike Metcon 6 AMP and the regular Nike Metcon 6? That’s what we’ll review in this article. This is Nike Metcon 6 AMP Versus Nike Metcon 6.

There’s a Flyease version of the regular shoe too. This helps adaptive athletes because once the laces are tied, you can put these on or take them off easily.

(No hands needed.)

Nike Metcon 6 FlyEase Review - Step
The FlyEase version of the shoe feels a bit loose in the heel. It doesn’t fit as tightly.
Nike Metcon 6 - outsole
The very firm, very hard outer rim of the rubber heel on the 6 is loud on any sort of hard surface – such as asphalt, concrete, tile, and more.

Functionally, both shoes are equivalent – although I’m guessing the regular has better breathability.

This is the breathable upper on the launch edition of the Metcon 6. Most of the AMP shoes use something similar.

Metcon 6 AMP Review – In Summary

The functional Nike Metcon 6 AMP that comes with a lightweight mesh upper will definitely help you kill your workout.

As an added bonus the removable Hyperlift inserts let you personalize your heel angle for more speed and power.
