Altama OTB Maritime Assault Boot Review

Let’s review the from Altama. No, it’s not a Chuck Taylor Converse – it’s a special-purpose boot originally made for the US Navy Seals. They wanted a shoe that fit and worked like the Converse shoes (i.e. a very simple design) but wanted something that could be used in amphibious operations. These are sometimes called tactical chucks for that reason. Luckily for the rest of us, these shoes can do a lot more than that – and they look good doing it!

GORUCK Spearhead Web Belt Review

Let’s take an in-depth look at the GORUCK Spearhead Web Belt. Why are we reviewing this belt? It’s a nice belt, but expensive. So you probably want to take a careful look at it before you buy. Here’s some of the styles we are going to look at: GORUCK Spearhead Web Belt – Overview The GORUCK Spearhead Web Belt is a Grip6 belt. It provides a minimalist look with extreme durability. Ever had a belt break? Yep – it happens. And the more complicated the belt, the more likely it’s going to fail when you need it. It’s a web belt, so it is low profile. Itlies down flat and won’t protrude out from the pants or dig into your skin. This uses the Grip6 patented no-slip locking mechanism to keep the belt in place all day long. (NOTE: The belt does tend to slide around a bit, at least in our testing – meaning you’ll notice after a while the buckle is off to the left or right, but this is purely aesthetic. The belt stays as tight (or [Read more …]

Check out this video from our YouTube channel: (Coming Soon) GORUCK American Training Shirt Review – Overview First of all, let’s talk about the fit and cut. This shirt is cut for an athletic fit with short sleeves. I don’t want long baggy sleeves on a workout shirt, but short sleeves sometimes ride up too. The sleeves on this shirt do tend to ride up a bit, and if you are rucking with a GR1 rucksack or similar, this can lead to some abrasion from those tough straps – but you can just [Read more …]

GORUCK Simple Shorts Review

GORUCK’s Black Friday sale is live! Check out their deals on rucksacks, apparel, boots, and more! Here’s our GORUCK Simple Shorts review. What are Simple Shorts? They look like regular formal shorts (with pockets and belt loops) – but they are actually a very different sort of apparel. Simple Shorts are lightweight, comfortable, tough, and made for physical activity. These are shorts are meant for physical fitness – like a GORUCK challenge event – or just about anything else. By the way, if you don’t know what “rucking” is, it’s simply walking or hiking with a loaded backpack – it’s a great workout and the loaded rucksack brings your upper body into play. But given that these are cut like formal shorts (and therefore have pockets and belt loops) means these are very versatile shorts you can wear in many different situations. (As compared to athletic shorts – which aren’t appropriate in most places outside of the gym). We’re going to tell you more in depth, here’s the styles available now from GORUCK: We’re going to use a lot of [Read more …]

GORUCK TAC Hat Review – Rucking Hat

Here’s our review of the GORUCK TAC Hat. Yep, it’s a hat. But seriously – this is a good hat you may want to pick up. We’ll explain further here. This is a tactical hat – so that means it is basically a baseball cap with a velcro patch area up front. But there’s more to talk about, so read on. Here’s some of the things we’ll be looking at in this GORUCK TAC hat review, including accessories: All right, let’s take a look. GORUCK TAC Hat – it’s a Tactical Hat First off, let’s discuss what a tactical hat is. It’s a baseball cap – but it has a hook and loop (velcro) area up front for patches. Why patches? Well, you can identify yourself or show a bit of style. Some tactical hats have velcro up front, and in the back – but not this one, it’s front only. That’s ok to me, because the front is all I need. As you can see from this side view, the hat is made from 6 separate panels. But, there [Read more …]

GORUCK has released the Generation 2 version of their lightweight jungle rucking boot – the MACV-1. Here’s this brand new boot – 6″ high in black leather. We mentioned this is the 2nd generation of the MACV-1 boot, so let’s talk about what is new and improved first. Perhaps the biggest improvement is the new all-terrain outsole. GORUCK Simple Pants Review

We’re going to tell you more in depth, here’s the styles available now from GORUCK: We’re going to use a lot of GORUCK supplied photos here – because it is hard to take good pictures of pants. I’ll upload custom photos soon. Before we move on, let’s say a quick few words about rucking as physical exercise. GORUCK Simple Pants – Pants for Rucking GORUCK is the rucking company.
