GORUCK x Carryology Kaidan – Overview
Introducing the GORUCK x Carryology Kaidan capsule collection. A three-piece travel combination created for a life of adventure. This backpack is the driving inspiration for this project – a bag designed for travel and adventure. The GR2 won 1st place in The Carry Awards for “Best Carry On” for its excellent harmony of utility and ruggedness in 2013. Both 34L and 40L of GR2 were tested and used thousands of miles and found that the 34L is the perfect size and weight for travel. This “one bag” does not really mean one bag as this collection is a three-piece travel combination.
You’ll know more about it as you keep on reading, but for now, let’s talk about some of the upgrades made to GR2. It is provided with some functional lash points on the face and shoulder straps for your travels, as well as ruggedness and durability. It also uses the futuristic instant-classic, the Dimension Polyant X-Pac VX42. This pack is more rigid than 500D, and it transforms the standard Cordura from “water-resistant” to “waterproof”. It also has leather-like handles, so you can easily grab them when shoved in crowded spaces.
GR2 Field Pocket – Carryology Kaidan
Your electronics and wires can now be stored and organized well with the GR2 Field Pocket. You can also stash your camera gear in it and use it as a Dopp kit or with your rucksack for more space and organization. It is made of XPAC VX21 210D, and the padding keeps contents inside protected, and the extra three interior pockets keep you organized.
The exterior zippers use waterproof YKK Aquaguard, while the interior uses YKK zippers with silent, glove-friendly zipper pulls created from parachute 550 cord. It measures 9” W x 8” H x 3” D and weighs 0.6 lbs with a 4L capacity. There are three interior pockets — one large mesh zip pocket, one large zip pocket, and one mesh pouch pocket.
GR2 34L – Carryology Kaidan
The GR2 34L is carry-on compliant and was the catalyst of the GORUCK x Carryology Kaidan Capsule. GR2 is durable and made for people who want to travel anywhere outside an airport. It has a bombproof laptop compartment, and the layout comes from the Special Forces medical rucks with plenty of pockets and lots of organization.
GR2 uses a lightweight, safety orange 400d Cordura on the inside for interior visibility with two leather handles on the top and bottom for easy grab and go. It opens flat and has a limited edition leather patch designed by Argentina-based Artist/Illustrator Sebastián Cabrol. There are four rows of exterior MOLLE on the front and four rows of internal MOLLE webbing so you can customize your GR2 however you want.
Bullet 15L – Carryology Kaidan
The Bullet 15L is made to last for a lifetime. It is a three-piece travel combination that nests smoothly inside of your GR2, and you can toss in just your essentials for a lighter adventure. It is constructed out of VX21 and is lightweight and simplified to make it easy to stash and go.
Bullet 15L uses waterproof YKK AquaGuard exterior zippers, and YKK zippers on the interior with silent, glove-friendly zipper pulls formed from parachute 550 cord. The limited-edition leather patch is designed by New York City-based Artist/Illustrator Celia Calle. It opens flat for easier packing and organizing with three rows of exterior MOLLE on the front.
