Nike has released new colorways of the Nike React Metcon for January 2020.
Let’s take a close look.
There are unique styles for both Men and Women.
Pricing is unchanged at about $150 US.
Heel view of the Nike React Metcon for women. You’ll see that the knife edge heel from the Nike Metcon 5 is in use – this means minimal drag against the wall when performing HSPUs (Hand Stand Push Ups)
You can see on the Women’s version of the shoe the grippy heel piece that says Metcon is white. It looks good.
From the top you can see the quick pull lacing system – and that great looking subdued NIKE text. It’s a great looking shoe!
All the performance attributes of the Men’s shoe are here in the Women’s version. The rope wrap, quick pull lacing system, flyknit upper, etc.
Here’s we have the Women’s version of the Nike React Metcon in White/Atmosphere Gray. Notice the NIKE label here is very subdued – that’s pretty cool as it is still a great looking shoe.
The Nike React Metcon uses the outsole from the Nike Metcon 5 unchanged. It has the same "sticky" rubber up front for traction, with firmer, more durable rubber in the heel for weightlifting stability. It’s an indoor style of pattern – those grooves are not very deep – this is definitely not a trail running shoe.
The heel view shoes us the overall shape of the shoe. The “METCON” name looks very nice – and it’s made from a grippy rubber that has a great feel to it – but it’s not really functional in any way.
The inside view of the shoe shows that massive rope wrap – and the flyknit upper. You can also see the pull tab on the back of the heel – that helps you put these tight fitting shoes on.
From the top we can see that bold NIKE label. It’s too much for some people, but doesn’t look bad to me. The Nike Swoosh is on the side of the shoe, but is pretty minimal.
Being based on the Nike Metcon 5 – that massive "Rope Wrap" is on the shoe. This will help you climb rope like no other shoe – because it is tough and has a great tread pattern for grip – but it does add quite a bit of heft to the shoes – these weigh in at the mid 13 ounce mark for a Men’s size 11.5 pair.
The White/Atmosphere Gray/Black color combination looks really sharp. This is a Men’s show model. Here you get a good view of the FlyKnit upper and the bold NIKE label along the top.
The big change with the Nike React Metcon (which is based on the Nike Metcon 5) is the drop-in midsole – which is shown here. It’s made from single density React foam – Nike’s advanced cushioning system that provides bounce and rebound.

There’s the Nike Free x Metcon 2 Men’s Cross Training shoe in BLACK / BRIGHT CACTUS PURPLE / NEBULA / WHITE. What is the Nike Free x Metcon 2? Nike has combined the key elements of the Nike Free running shoe line with the Metcon cross-training shoe. And this means the Nike Free X Metcon 2 is the best of both worlds for the dynamic athlete. The Free shoe line replicates the barefoot running experience – the deep siping and hexagonal foam blocks of the sole give flexibility along the length and width of the shoe. Let’s take a look. Let’s take a look at the new Nike React Metcon Turbo from Nike. It’s available now from Road Runner Sports, and others. Our review pair has arrived – and we’ve done our initial testing. Nike’s first version of a React Metcon shoe was an interesting experiment. It featured a number of innovations such as a “Forged FlyKnit” upper, quick lace system, and a removable midsole based on React foam, rather than Nike’s normal dual-density foam. Did it all work? No – not in my opinion. The Forged Flyknit was bulky and uncomfortable, the quick lace system was a flop, and to top it all off, it was adorned with ostentatious NIKE text. I’m happy to say Nike has fixed all those issues with the new Nike React Metcon Turbo training shoe. Here’s some of the styles that are available now: Let’s take a look.
