That deep, boot like tread is meant for mud. It’s labeled "anti-clog traction" as it won’t collect mud.
From the heel you can see the pull tabs – these are necessary to make it easier to put these on – as they should fit tightly.
There’s a rope wrap section of outsole that wraps up around the midfoot – just like most of the other metcon shoes.
From the top you can see the overall form factor of these shoes.
From the side view you can see the gaiter – this tight fitting elastic comes up high on your ankle. Why? To keep out mud, sticks, rocks and other debris.
See that tread? This is like a boot. But you can also see the water draining ports – and that is a very unique feature on this shoe.
The speed lacing system lets you make quick adjustments – and there are no laces to get clogged with mud! There is also a pocket to protect the quick clip.

Now that the Nike Metcon 6 is out – the Metcon 5 is getting hard to find – but Rogue Fitness still has the Metcon 5 for sale. Here’s a close-up look at Nike’s most stable and durable Metcon shoe yet – The Nike Metcon 5 for Women. This is Black/White/University Red/Metallic Gold (Style: AO2982-076), and it looks sweet. Not only is it stable and durable, it is also the most tuned Metcon training shoe yet. What do you get with the Nike Metcon 5 for women? It has specific stability for heavy lifting (squats, deadlifts, and Oly lifting). But it also has traction made for speed, and durability where you need it – thanks to it’s “zoned” durability. There’s also a small drop-in wedge called a “Hyperlift”. This insert (which is also compatible with all prior versions of the Metcon) will give you an additional 6mm of heel to toe drop (for a total of 10mm in the women’s shoe.) What are these good for? Think heel raise for easier squats, wall balls, and pistols. This is your secret [Read more …]
