The Nike React Metcon was just released in November 2019, but Nike is already making some new colorways available. Here’s the Nike React Metcon in white. What’s React? It is Nike’s reactive foam cushioning system. For the React Metcon, it’s a drop-in midsole that works in conjunction with the regular outsole – which is the same as that of the Metcon 5. The React Metcon also uses FlyKnit – that is a yarn-like knit material that allows Nike to make a seamless, one piece upper. It’s not as lightweight as the FlyKnit in the React running shoe line from Nike, as it is double layer instead of single. But, it’s still pretty good. The Nike React Metcon doesn’t have laces – instead it uses Nike’s quick pull system.
INOV-8 has launched a new CrossFit training shoe in their F-Lite line. The INOV-8 F-LITE G 300 is available now. If you are accustomed to running shoes, you may find the features of a good cross trainer a bit baffling. But, we’ll explain the key differences here. Let’s take a look at some of the features. This shoe has a 6 millimeter heel to toe drop. That’s an indicator of the amount of heel raise that the shoe has. It’s not unusual for a running shoe to have a 10 mm heel to toe drop. But for the CrossFit WOD we need something more versatile. This shoe has LESS drop than a typical running shoe, and a LOT LESS drop than a “lifter” – which is what we call Oly lifting shoes. Heel raise is good for some things – but a hindrance for others. Since we’ll be lifting, jumping, running, jumping rope, etc. we need a moderate drop for best results. Some of these moves – like the Olympic lifts – are very explosive movements. The snatch and clean [Read more …]
Nike recently launched a Metcon training shoe that’s built for Mud Runs or OCRs (Obstacle Course Races.) It’s a training shoe – or a boot – or a little bit of both – and that’s the point. This new colorway is “Black/Light Current Blue/Black”. Where can you get these? Roadrunner Sports: Let’s take a closer look. Photo Credits Photos are property of Nike, Inc.

The Nike Free X Metcon 2 is a great cross training shoe – that works well for running too. It’s part of Nike’s “Free” line – and that means that it is meant to replicate the barefoot running experience. Let’s take a look at how it does that – while we show you the new styles. Like the Texas Longhorns? Then “Black/Iron Grey/White/Desert Orange” is your style. Here’s the removable insole – you can see the Texas longhorns steer. It looks pretty good – but few people will see that – as it is inside the shoe. Fan of the NFL? Here’s the Pittsburgh Steelers version of the Free x Metcon 2. The yellow and black are a unique look for this shoe. Here’s the “top down” view. We also have the Georgia Bulldogs. Bad news for Ohio State fans – that colorway sold out within days – so these are no longer available. That’s a hint too that these are all limited runs – if you like them – get them now. Fans of Tom Brady and crew will [Read more …]
Last week, Nike launched some new colorways (color combinations) for their Nike Metcon Sport shoe. The Nike Metcon Sport is part of the “Metcon” line of shoes – that’s code for “CrossFit”. These shoes are cross trainers – and they let you lift, run, jump, and more. What’s the new styles? Here we have String/Dark Smoke Grey/Pale Ivory. Nike says “STABILITY TO LIFT HEAVY AND CUT HARD.” The other great thing about these shoes is that they are only $100 or so. That’s much cheaper than the other shoes in the line. Another great colorway that has just debuted is Black/Thunderstorm/White/Total Orange. Photo Credits Some photos are property of Nike, Inc.
